Travelodge to open hotel in Valencia in August

Travelodge is planning to open a new hotel in Valencia in time for the peak of the summer season in Spain this year. The hotel is to have 116 rooms and is located near the airport of Manises. It will be connected to the center of the city  and the port area of Valencia by two separate subway lines and the journey to the center should take around 15 minutes.

The Travelodge hotel group plans to reach 100 hotels in Spain by 2020  with an expansion program of €1,000 million. The hotel chain has identified Spain as the second most powerful international destination after Ireland, given the favourable conditions for the growth of low-cost hotels.

Valencia is one of the locations chosen by Travelodge to set up in Spain, since every year it receives a large number of tourists of British origin.

The chain has a great tradition and recognition in the UK thanks to the more than 460 hotels it has spread throughout the British Isles. It is believed that British travellers will identify with the new Travelodge hotel in Valencia as a new addition to the familiar chain and, according to the hotel group, this could help increase the flow of tourists between the UK and Valencia.

There are only 100 low cost hotels in Spain, representing less than 1% of the total. This compares with a much higher percentage in other countries such as 13% in UK,  24% in France and 33% in North America. Continuing with the expansion plans of Travelodge, the chain plans to open two new hotels in Spain in the not too distant future, one in Barcelonaand another one in Seville.
