During the warm and long summer nights which surely are part of the attraction of any visit to Spain visitors can enjoy traditional tapas, cocktails or a late dinner in the outdoor spaces of these hotels.
The terrace of the Barcelo Raval, located in one of the most traditional districts in Barcelona, has a 360-degree balcony on the eleventh floor that offers guests amazing views of the city from all four cardinal points of the compass from 7:00 pm until 1:00 am every weekend and until 11:00 pm on weeknights. The terrace crowns an innovative elliptical building, where clients can drink to the beat of a nice selection of music whilst contemplating the spectacular sunsets that are frequent in the Condal City.
For those who prefer to relax with their feet firmly on the ground, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, located in Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona, just this summer opened its “Mimosa Garden”, a lively outdoor terrace where visitors are able to enjoy a healthy meal al fresco, take a fruit cocktail or relax with a refreshing iced tea. The Mimosa garden is a 660 square metre urban oasis right in the heart of the second city of Spain.
Not far from the the Mimosa Garden, the spectacular terrace appropriately called “La Dolce Vita” in the Hotel Majestic offers clients Japanese food tasting sessions between 8:00 pm and 1:30 am.
The Hotel Claris, located in the center of Barcelona, is proud of being a pioneer among hotels in Spain in opening its terrace to the general public. Since starting the trend 17 years ago the hotel terrace has become a meeting point for businessmen, politicians and other prominent social and cultural personalities. This year the bar is offering a mix of live Brazilian music and jazz until midnight followed by pop music until two in the morning. Guests can have dinner or simply a few cocktails beside the pool to while away the evening in good company.
The terrace of the Hotel W, the newest in Barcelona, has become the in place for those in the city who want to be seen, relax or just make new acquaintances. Better known as the Vela Hotel due to the design by architect Ricardo Bofill which resembles a sailing boat, this terrace is located on the Paseo de La Barceloneta with direct access to the beach.
The Hotel Axel, which has been voted “best gay hotel in the world” by readers of the prestigious American travel magazine The Out Traveler, opened the “Sky Bar” terrace this June. It describes itself as a ” heterofriendly” meeting point, liberal and cosmopolitan.
