The hotel chain Accor will open 29 new hotels in Spain within the next 4 years, nine of which will be in Barcelona.

Novotel Barcelona City is the first of the hotel chain located in the city centre and has just been opened to the public.  The hotel group already has 21 hotels in Catalonia and is planning to open five Ibis hotels and four Etap hotels mainly in Barcelona.

By 2014 Accor hotels are also hoping to open in Spain two Suitehotels, a Mercure hotel, twelve Ibis hotels and fourteen Etap Hotels.

According to the manager of Novotel Barcelona City, Enrique Augustín, the Novotel group owns 4,000 hotels in 90 countries.  Some of their brands are Sofitel, MGallery, Orbis, Suitehotel, Pullman, Novotel, Mercure, Adagio, Ibis, Formula 1 and Etap Hotel.  They cater for all types of guests including business customers as well as family holidays.

 Novotel Barcelona City is a four star hotel located in the heart of the city centre, in Avenida Diagonal.  It has 264 rooms, an outdoor pool on the 19th floor with panoramic views of Barcelona, a fitness center and almost 600 square meters dedicated to function rooms.   The establishment opened its doors to the public on April 1st and  and so far it has had an occupancy rate of 60%.
